Share the Love This Valentine’s Day

Instead of fleeting treats, make a lasting impact by donating to Silver Whiskers in honor of a loved one. For donations of $50.00 or more, we’ll send a beautiful Valentine’s Day card to your special someone, acknowledging your thoughtful gift in their name.  Simply include their name and address with your donation, and we’ll take care of the rest! It’s the perfect way to show you care, without the calories or wilting petals.

A Year of Impact

The Silver Whiskers program welcomed 37 senior cats in its first year. Some of these cats required significant medical care, including major dental surgeries, daily and weekly medications, specialty diets, bloodwork, and even cat stairs for arthritic joints. These needs didn’t deter us, as we know each of these efforts helps our senior kitties live healthier, happier lives.

In addition to learning more about the medical needs of senior cats, we also discovered how many compassionate people are willing to open their homes to aging felines. These adopters don’t just adopt a pet; they become a lifeline for a senior cat who needs love, care, and a safe haven.

What does it take to run Silver Whiskers? Well, it takes love and generosity – especially as senior cats often have disabilities and higher medical needs than young cats. Here’s what our first year looked like:

Silver Whiskers: Cats aged 7+

  • Intakes: 37
  • Adoptions: 30
  • Dental Surgeries: $6,640
  • Lab work: $3,739
  • Misc. Expenses (medicines, specialty foods, etc.): $2,269

Here are two of our success stories:

Spyder

This sweet 9-year-old senior came to Fearless Kitty from a hoarding situation. He had scars from bite marks, teeth that were rotting in his mouth, and an overall sense of fear. It took a long month of love, care, and attention to help him overcome the trauma and begin to come out of his shell. Looking for a kitty that needed them, Spyder’s new family took a chance on him. They tell us he is now a curious guy, loves to be wherever they are, and gets the ‘zoomies’ in the morning before breakfast.

Saba Skye

This 8-year-old Silver Whiskers came to Fearless Kitty Rescue after a young woman found her on the roof of a building. It turns out that Saba Skye was abandoned by her family, who no longer wanted her and just left her outside to fend for herself. While this story doesn’t have a happy beginning, it does have a happy ending. Saba Skye is now loved, content, and cared for in a home with a kitten and a teenage daughter who dearly loves her.

More Silvers…

Every senior cat deserves a loving home, especially when life throws them a curveball.

Crusty – 12 years old and deaf, Babe – 10 years old with diabetes, Daphne – 13 years old when her beloved owner died, Fritti – 10 years old and abandoned at a feral colony…..these are some of the seniors who found a second chance through Fearless Kitty’s Silver Whisker program, made possible by compassionate supporters.
