There are over one hundred animal organizations in the Phoenix area. This list is just a small sample of organizations that might be able to help you with surrendering a pet. Just about every website has a resource section of its own.

If you are looking for help with a specific breed, such as Maine Coon cats, use Google to search for *Main Coon* and *Phoenix*, plus any other terms that may help you narrow down your results.

Organizations have their own requirements for owner surrenders, so be prepared to provide documentation of shots (vaccinations and rabies), combo tests (also known as snap tests) for feline leukemia and FIV, and proof of spaying or neutering. You may be asked to pay a surrender fee as well. Sometimes for an extra donation, the rescue will take care of the tests and vaccinations. Often, they will request a photo and bio of your cat.

Please keep in mind that the priority of these organizations is the direct care of their current animals, so they may not return your call, voicemail message, or electronic message immediately. There are times when shelters or foster spaces are full and cannot accept kitties for a while. This is especially true at the height of kitten season, in the spring and summer
