We were contacted by Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They said their adoption numbers were way down but their intake numbers were way up and they were euthanizing kittens daily. They said they would be transporting animals to Arizona and asked if we cold help them save some kittens.
Of course we said yes, and on July 17, 2019 we welcomed these 6 little fur babies to Fearless Kitty Rescue.
Approximately 3 weeks after their arrival the kittens presented with ringworm. For those of you not familiar with this issue – it’s every rescue’s worst nightmare. There was no way the shelter in New Mexico could have known what they were transporting to us. Because of our solid intake protocols, the ringworm was contained to only the intake area they were housed in.
All 6 of these kittens are now in foster care to limit the exposure to the other kitties we are caring for and to get them the treatment they need to heal quickly. It’s going to take a massive amount of effort and time (approximately 2 months) on the part of both our fearless foster and amazing volunteers, but the kittens will make a full recovery.
